Window Tint Aftercare
The first few days
- Keep the windows rolled up for 3–5 days. The film needs time for the mounting adhesive to cure. In cool or foggy weather, give it the full week.
- Small water pockets or a slight haze are normal. They're moisture left from installation and evaporate as the film cures — faster in Sacramento sun. Don't press or pick at them.
- Don't clean the inside of the glass for a week.
- Leave rear defroster use for a few days if your back window was tinted.
Cleaning, for the life of the film
- Use a soft microfiber cloth and an ammonia-free glass cleaner (or water with a drop of mild soap).
- No paper towels, scrapers, razor blades or abrasive pads on the inside of tinted windows.
- Seat belts and rings can nick film — buckle carefully near the door glass.
Your warranty
Solar Gard films carry a manufacturer warranty, and the terms depend on the film line you chose. Keep your receipt — it shows the film and install date. If anything looks wrong (peeling, bubbling after the cure period, color change), call us at (916) 907-3234 and we'll take care of it.
Windshield work
If you had windshield repair or replacement, follow the safe drive-away time we gave you, avoid slamming doors and car washes for the first day, and leave any retention tape in place as instructed.
