Windshield chips & cracks in Folsom

For a lot of Folsom drivers, US-50 is the daily commute: down to Sacramento in the morning and back toward Folsom, El Dorado Hills and Placerville in the evening. That same freeway carries weekend traffic to Tahoe and plenty of trucks, which is how many Folsom windshields end up chipped.

King Auto Tint's shop at 2450 Fulton Ave is about 25–30 minutes from Folsom. We offer auto glass repair, from chip and crack repair to full windshield replacement. You drive in, we look at the glass together, and we tell you what we'd do on our own car.

Why Folsom drivers choose us

Worth the drive.

We're on Fulton Ave in Sacramento, minutes from Business 80, serving drivers from Roseville to Elk Grove. We know the valley's heat, the I-80 and US-50 rock-chip commutes, and the tint rules CHP enforces.

Local roads & glass damage

Why chips happen here.

US-50 east of Sacramento is a busy truck and recreation route toward Placerville and South Lake Tahoe, and loose gravel shed from trucks and trailers is a frequent cause of chips. Closer to home, the Folsom Ranch area south of 50 is still being built out, and roads near active construction collect dirt and stone that get thrown at the cars behind. Commuters on Iron Point Rd, East Bidwell and the Folsom Blvd interchange see their share too.

Summer heat finishes the job. A windshield parked at Palladio or near Folsom Lake on a 100°F afternoon expands, then contracts when the AC kicks on. A chip under that stress can run into a crack in days. That's why we suggest getting chips filled soon, before the next heat wave.

Repair or replace?

In general, chips smaller than a quarter and single cracks shorter than about six inches are often repairable. Damage in the driver's direct line of sight, at the edge of the glass, or with several spreading cracks usually calls for windshield replacement. See windshield repair vs. replacement for the full explanation; we'll confirm once we see it.

The attention to detail is insane — no bubbles, no dust, no uneven edges, just a flawless, factory-quality finish. You can tell they take real pride in their work. FAQ · Folsom

Questions from Folsom.

I got a rock chip on US-50. Can I drive to you from Folsom?

In most cases, yes. A small chip doesn't usually keep you off the road. Cover it with clear tape and avoid pointing the defroster or AC at it. If it has already become a long crack in front of the driver, read can you drive with a cracked windshield and call (916) 907-3234.

Do you offer mobile windshield repair in Folsom?

Our current glass service is at our Fulton Ave shop. Call (916) 907-3234 to ask about anything beyond that.

Can I drop my car off on the way to work in Sacramento?

Call (916) 907-3234 to arrange timing. Many Folsom customers fit a visit around their US-50 commute.

My SUV has a heads-up display and lane cameras. Can you still replace the windshield?

Those windshields need the correct glass, and many vehicles need ADAS calibration afterward. If yours does, we'll tell you before work begins and explain how it will be handled. More in ADAS calibration after windshield replacement.
