Windshield chips & cracks in West Sacramento

West Sacramento is just across the Sacramento River from downtown, and the drive to our shop is mostly freeway. Business 80 (Capital City Fwy) takes you over the river and on to the Fulton Ave exit, about 15–20 minutes from most of the city.

King Auto Tint offers auto glass repair: windshield chip and crack repair and full windshield replacement. You drive in, we look at the damage together, and we explain whether a repair is likely to hold or a replacement is the better call before any work starts.

Why West Sacramento drivers choose us

Worth the drive.

We're on Fulton Ave in Sacramento, minutes from Business 80, serving drivers from Roseville to Elk Grove. We know the valley's heat, the I-80 and US-50 rock-chip commutes, and the tint rules CHP enforces.
01

Quick freeway trip

About 15–20 minutes over the river on Business 80 or I-80.

02

Honest recommendation

If a repair will do the job, we won't push a replacement.

03

Tint and film here too

Add windshield protection film or ceramic tint after your glass work if you'd like.

Local roads & glass damage

Why chips happen here.

West Sacramento has more heavy-vehicle traffic than most of the region. The Port of West Sacramento, the warehouses and distribution centers in the industrial areas, and the trucks that serve them all share roads with commuters. Semis and flatbeds on Industrial Blvd, Harbor Blvd and Jefferson Blvd can throw grit and stones, and gravel tracked out of loading yards often ends up on the pavement nearby.

Then there's the I-80 Yolo Causeway toward Davis: a long, exposed stretch at freeway speed with heavy truck traffic, and a common place to pick up a chip. US-50 and Business 80 heading east into Sacramento add more of the same.

The weather counts too. Summer heat regularly passes 100°F, while the Delta breeze can cool things off fast in the evening. In winter, Tule fog sits low over the river and the Yolo Bypass, which means long stretches of wiper and defroster use. All of that puts stress on a chipped windshield.

Repair or replace?

Chips smaller than a quarter and cracks shorter than about six inches can often be repaired. Damage in front of the driver, cracks reaching the edge of the glass, or several cracks branching out usually call for windshield replacement. Our post windshield repair vs. replacement covers how we make the call.
