Window Tint
How much does window tint cost?
Most Sacramento shops quote roughly $200–$450 for a full car with standard film and about $350–$900 or more for ceramic. Your exact price depends on the vehicle, the number of windows and the film you choose. Request a quote and we'll give you a clear number.
How long does tint installation take?
Most vehicles take a few hours, depending on the vehicle and how many windows are being tinted. Removing old film first adds time. We'll give you an estimate when you book.
How long does window tint last?
Quality film installed professionally typically lasts many years, while cheap dyed films can fade or bubble much sooner. Solar Gard films carry manufacturer warranties that vary by film line. Parking in shade and cleaning with ammonia-free products helps film last.
What percentage tint should I choose?
It depends on the window and your goals. In California, front side windows must let in at least 70% of light, while rear side and back windows can be any darkness if your car has dual outside mirrors. Popular rear choices range from 5% to 35%, and we'll show you samples to help you decide.
Is it legal to tint front windows in California?
Only with very light film. California requires front side windows to let in at least 70% of light with glass and film combined, and the windshield may only have non-reflective tint on the top 4 inches. Medical exemptions exist for certain conditions with documentation. This is a summary, not legal advice.
Does tint block UV rays?
Yes. Solar Gard rates its automotive films, such as NR Galaxie and HP Smoke Plus, at over 99% UV blocking. That helps protect your skin and slows fading and cracking of your dashboard and upholstery.
Can you tint Tesla vehicles?
Yes. We've tinted Tesla Model 3 and Model Y, along with other EVs like Rivian and GMC Hummer EV. Ceramic film is a popular choice for Teslas because it's signal-friendly and handles heat through large glass well.
What vehicles can you tint?
We tint cars, SUVs, trucks, EVs and luxury vehicles. Examples include Cadillac Escalades, Mercedes-AMG G-Class, Chevy Silverado HDs, Corvette C8s, Ford F-150 Raptors, BMW X-series SUVs and Teslas.
Do you remove old tint?
Yes. We remove purple, bubbling or peeling tint, clean off the old adhesive and take care around rear defroster lines. Most customers re-tint in the same visit.
Why choose professional installation?
Professional installation is the difference between film that looks factory-clean and film with dust, gaps or lifting edges. We work in a shop, heat-shape film to curved glass and inspect every window. Quality film only performs as well as the install.
How do I care for new tint?
Keep your windows rolled up for a few days while the film cures, and don't worry about slight haze or small water pockets at first. After that, clean with a soft microfiber cloth and an ammonia-free cleaner. Avoid scraping the film or using abrasive pads.
What is the best window tint for a hot car in Sacramento?
For Sacramento heat, ceramic film is usually the best choice because it blocks infrared heat without needing to be dark. King Auto Tint most often recommends Solar Gard VortexIR, kept within California's 70% rule on the front side windows.

Ceramic Tint
What is ceramic tint?
Ceramic tint is a premium window film made with non-metallic ceramic particles that block infrared heat while staying clear and signal-friendly. Solar Gard rates its VortexIR nano-ceramic film at up to 88% infrared heat rejection. It keeps the cabin cooler without needing to be very dark.
Is ceramic tint better than carbon tint?
For heat rejection, yes: ceramic blocks much more infrared heat and won't interfere with electronics. Standard films such as HP Smoke Plus and NR Galaxie cost less and still give privacy, UV protection and real heat and glare control. If heat is your main concern, ceramic is usually worth the upgrade.
Does tint reduce heat?
Yes, and how much depends on the film. Standard films offer moderate heat control, while ceramic films are engineered to block infrared heat, the part of sunlight you feel. For Sacramento summers, ceramic gives the biggest difference.
Who does ceramic window tint near me in Sacramento?
King Auto Tint installs Solar Gard VortexIR nano-ceramic film at its Fulton Ave studio in Sacramento. Solar Gard rates VortexIR at up to 88% infrared heat rejection.

Auto Glass
Can you repair a windshield chip?
Yes. We repair windshield chips with resin, which restores strength to the spot and helps stop it from spreading. Small chips away from the edge and outside the driver's line of sight are usually good candidates. Text us a photo and we'll tell you.
How long does windshield repair take?
A single chip repair is a short job, often under an hour. Multiple chips or a crack take longer, and windshield replacement takes more time plus adhesive cure time before driving. We'll confirm timing when you book.
When does a windshield need to be replaced?
A windshield usually needs replacement when a crack is long or spreading, damage reaches the edge of the glass, it's in the driver's line of sight, or there are several damaged spots. Damage that affects a windshield-mounted camera is another common reason.
Can a cracked windshield be repaired?
Sometimes. Short, stable cracks can often be repaired, but long cracks, cracks at the edge or damage in the driver's line of sight usually need replacement. Send us a photo and we'll give you an honest answer.
Do you offer mobile auto glass repair?
Our auto glass service is done at our shop at 2450 Fulton Ave in Sacramento. Call (916) 907-3234 to ask about your situation.
Do you work with insurance?
Many auto policies cover glass damage, and some cover chip repair with little or no out-of-pocket cost. Coverage varies by policy. Call us and we'll talk through your options.
Do you repair Tesla glass?
Call us with your Tesla model and year and a photo of the damage. Tesla glass varies by model, and we'll tell you what's involved for your vehicle.

Call us to ask. Tell us your vehicle and which window is damaged, and we'll let you know what we can do.
Do you replace rear glass?
Call us to ask. Let us know your vehicle and a photo of the damage, and we'll tell you what's possible.
Will my car need ADAS calibration after windshield replacement?
Possibly. Many newer vehicles have a camera behind the windshield for features like lane-keeping and automatic emergency braking, and some need calibration after replacement. If your vehicle needs calibration, we'll tell you before work begins and explain how it will be handled.
