Window tinting built for Sacramento heat
A car parked on a Sacramento lot in July can get uncomfortably hot inside within minutes. Window tint is one of the most effective ways to take the edge off that heat, and it also protects your skin and interior from UV, cuts glare and adds privacy.
King Auto Tint is a Solar Gard authorized dealer at 2450 Fulton Ave in the Arden-Arcade area. We've been tinting cars since 2020, and our work runs from daily commuters to Tesla Model Ys, Silverado HDs, Corvette C8s and Cadillac Escalades. Every job is done in the shop, with film cut and shaped to your glass.
Our film options
We offer a range of Solar Gard automotive films so you can match performance to budget:
- Solar Gard HP Smoke Plus: our best seller. Classic smoke grey in four shades with high heat rejection, over 99% UV blocking and a limited lifetime warranty from Solar Gard.
- Ceramic window tint: our premium choice for heat rejection and clarity. Ceramic films target infrared heat and are signal-friendly.
- Solar Gard films: HP Smoke Plus, NR Galaxie and HP Quantum — a clean look, UV protection and real heat control for less than ceramic.

How to choose the right tint
Start with three questions.
1. What matters most: heat, looks or budget? If cabin heat is the main issue, ceramic is usually worth the extra cost. Solar Gard rates VortexIR at up to 88% infrared heat rejection. If you mostly want privacy and a clean look at a good price, a standard film like HP Smoke Plus or NR Galaxie is a solid choice.
2. How dark do you want it? Darkness is measured as VLT, the percentage of visible light that passes through. Common rear-window choices range from 5% (limo) to 35%. Darker isn't automatically cooler, though. Heat rejection comes mostly from the film's technology, not its shade. Our guide on how dark to tint your car windows goes deeper.
3. How long will you keep the car? Quality film lasts years. If you plan to keep the vehicle, it often makes sense to buy the better film once rather than replace a cheap one later. See how long window tint lasts.
California window tint law, in brief
California has specific rules for each window. This is a summary, not legal advice:
- Windshield: non-reflective tint is allowed on the top 4 inches only. Clear UV/IR films on the rest of the windshield are a gray area, so ask us and we'll explain what's compliant.
- Front side windows: must let in at least 70% of light, with glass and film combined. In practice only very light films qualify. Medical exemptions exist for certain conditions with documentation.
- Rear side and back windows: any darkness is allowed if the vehicle has dual outside mirrors.
- Colors and reflectivity: no red, amber or blue tint, and reflectivity limits apply.

Already have tint?
If your current film is purple, bubbling or peeling, we can strip it and start fresh. Our tint removal service takes care around rear defroster lines. We also install windshield protection film and paint protection film if you want to protect more of the vehicle.
Why professional installation matters
Good film can still look bad if it's installed poorly. Dust under the film, gaps at the edges and lifted corners are installation problems, not film problems. We work in a controlled shop, heat-shape film to curved glass and inspect every window before handoff. More on that in why professional installation matters.
