Got a Tint Ticket in Sacramento?
The short version
A California window tint ticket is usually a correctable violation (often called a "fix-it ticket") under Vehicle Code §26708. In most cases you fix the problem — remove the illegal film — get the correction signed off, and then handle the citation with the court by the deadline on your ticket. Requirements vary, so read your citation first and follow what it says.
What we do for you
- Remove the film the same day when the schedule allows. We take the old tint off the windows named on your ticket — usually the front side windows — including the adhesive, so the glass is clean and clear.
- Protect your rear defroster if back-window film also needs to go; careful removal keeps the defroster lines intact.
- Re-tint the legal way, if you want. Rear side and back windows can be any darkness with dual mirrors, and a light Solar Gard ceramic film on the front windows can keep heat down while staying within the 70% combined rule. Use our tint law calculator to see why.
Getting the ticket signed off
After the film is removed, a correctable violation is typically signed off by a law-enforcement officer — many drivers go to a CHP area office or police department that offers sign-offs — and then you submit the proof and any fee to the court. Hours and procedures differ by agency, so call ahead. We can't sign tickets, but we'll make sure the glass is ready to pass inspection.
