Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Window Tint in Sacramento

For most Silverado 1500 owners in Sacramento, the best approach is a Solar Gard ceramic film such as VortexIR on every window, with a legal light shade up front and a darker shade on the rear doors and back glass to match the factory privacy glass. Adding a 4-inch windshield strip cuts sun glare on morning commutes.

We've tinted Silverado 1500s at our studio

The Silverado 1500 is one of the most common trucks on Sacramento roads, working as a job-site truck, a Folsom Lake tow rig and a family vehicle all at once. We've tinted Silverado 1500s at our Fulton Ave studio, and most owners ask us for the same three things: a cooler cab after the truck sits in a sunny lot, rear glass that matches the front, and a look that stays sharp for years.

Crew-cab owners often have kids or dogs in the back seat, so heat rejection on the rear doors matters as much as how dark the film looks. Darker rear film also adds privacy for tools or gear left in the cab.

Recommended film for the Silverado 1500

For a truck that spends hours in the Central Valley sun, ceramic window tint is the strongest choice. Solar Gard rates VortexIR, our top-tier film, at up to 88% infrared heat rejection. Under California law, the front door windows have to let in at least 70% of light, so we use a very light film there. The rear doors and back slider can go as dark as you like because the truck has dual side mirrors. A non-reflective strip on the top 4 inches of the windshield is also allowed. We'll recommend the exact film and shade on your quote.

Windshield & auto glass

Silverado 1500 glass care.

The Silverado's tall, wide windshield takes a lot of rock hits, especially on I-80 toward the Sierra and Hwy 99 behind other trucks. Many recent model years carry a forward camera behind the mirror, and some equipped trims add a rain sensor or a heads-up display, so the replacement glass has to match your truck's exact options. Small chips are often repairable if you catch them early. Learn more on our windshield repair page. If your vehicle needs calibration after a replacement, we'll tell you before work begins and explain how it will be handled.

FAQ

Chevrolet Silverado 1500 questions.

Can you tint the sliding rear window on a Silverado 1500?

Yes. We cut and fit the film around the slider so the seams line up with the frame and the window still opens and closes normally. The back glass can be any darkness in California as long as the truck has both side mirrors.

My Silverado already has dark rear windows. Do I still need tint back there?

Factory privacy glass blocks relatively little infrared heat. Ceramic film over it cuts heat without making the glass look mismatched.

How dark can I go on the front doors of my Silverado?

California requires the front side windows to let in at least 70% of light with the glass and film combined, so only very light films qualify. This is general information, not legal advice.
