Toyota Tacoma Window Tint in Sacramento

A Tacoma usually does best with Solar Gard ceramic or HP Smoke Plus film on the rear doors and back glass, a light legal film on the front doors, and a top windshield strip. The smaller cab heats up fast, so infrared rejection makes a noticeable difference.

We've tinted Tacomas at our studio

The Tacoma is the truck you see at trailheads near Auburn, in the parking lot at Sierra College and on every second driveway in Orangevale. Owners use it for everything, so they want tint that is practical: cooler for the dog in the back seat, less glare on the drive home west on US-50, and nothing that will draw attention at a traffic stop. We've tinted Tacomas at our Fulton Ave studio, and the most common request is a clean match across all the windows.

Tacoma cabs are compact, which means the sun on the side glass is never far from your shoulder. A good film changes how the truck feels on a 105-degree afternoon more than people expect.

Recommended film for the Tacoma

For a Tacoma, we usually suggest Solar Gard VortexIR, a nano-ceramic Solar Gard rates at up to 88% infrared heat rejection, or HP Smoke Plus, our best seller, if you want a capable film at a lower price. Legally, the front door windows need to let in at least 70% of light in California, so we fit a light film there, add a non-reflective strip to the top four inches of the windshield, and match the rear doors and slider to whatever darkness you like, since the truck has dual mirrors. Read our Solar Gard films page if you are comparing film types.

Windshield & auto glass

Tacoma glass care.

Off-pavement driving and freeway gravel are hard on a Tacoma windshield. Many recent model years have Toyota Safety Sense, whose camera sits near the top of the windshield, so the location of a chip and the type of replacement glass both matter. Small chips can often be filled before they spread; check our windshield repair page. If a replacement is needed and your vehicle needs calibration afterward, we'll tell you before work begins and explain how it will be handled.

FAQ

Toyota Tacoma questions.

Does the Tacoma's rear slider limit the tint options?

No. The slider is filmed in sections so it still opens. You can choose any shade for the back glass in California as long as the truck has dual outside mirrors.

Can I tint just the front doors to match the factory rear glass?

Matching is common, but California limits front side windows to at least 70% light transmission. We'll show you what a legal front film looks like next to your rear glass.

Is ceramic worth it on a small cab?

Often yes. A small cab heats quickly because the glass is close to the occupants, and ceramic film targets infrared heat rather than only darkening the glass.
